**Q: What bluetooth heart rate monitors work with this timer? I would like to use a chest strap for better accuracy**
A: The Flex Timer app can integrate with any heart rate monitor that supports the bluetooth heart rate profile. This open standard allows any app to integrate with any heart rate monitor without tying you in to a vendor specific application.

Unfortunately, some companies do not follow this standard and instead use a proprietary protocol so that only their apps or their approved partner's apps can integrate with their technology.

**Q: While using the app, does it disable the phone's "sleep" or lock mode? If not does the app still function while phone is locked?**
A: The app is used to program and initiate the external timer.  Once you have started the timer, the phone is no longer necessary and can be disconnected, put to sleep or locked.  The timer will continue to run even if the phone is locked or sleeps.

**Q: Is it android compatible?**
A: Yes.  It works with both Android and iOS devices that have Bluetooth Low Energy (which is most modern devices).

**Q: does the timer count both up and down?**
A: Yes, it has standard, round, interval, tabata , EMOM, timer and some customizable options.

The device has great potential and worked great. Once I hit the year mark, the timer just died and constantly beeps and and flashes on 12:00. It won't connect any more and just beeps and flashes. So great while it lasted but not worth the price to last a year. I would not recommend this deviceEDIT** it's now a a bit of time later since my post. I got in contact with customer service with 24 hours. They were very respectful and fast. They made sure the device problem was resolved and addressed. It has been working great since they sent their resolve out for a part. I am very pleased with this.

This timer is everything and more. Features that I love: 1) integration of Bluetooth to pair with your phone, 2) Simple platform that is easily programmed from your mobile device, 3) Display and sound is very clear and crisp, 4) It allows for use of an HR monitor, 5) Your ability to play music from other apps while using the timer, 5) The quality of the timer build and how it was designed, 6) Customization settings that allow you to program your timer the way you want. If you are looking for more structure to your workout, this is it. Although one of the more pricey options, it is well worth the investment. Pull the trigger, it is worth the investment and wait. I purchased a used one on here and it came quickly. The brand new option was back ordered and was mot going to arrive on time (I waited a month to no avail).

Update: I reviewed this a little over a month ago and gave 3/5 stars due to a faulty wire. However, I am updating it to a 5/5 because the overall clock/app for it were great and the customer service to get my issue resolved was even better. Duane, the owner, reached back out to me about the warranty and sent a new one to me within 7-10 days..during the holidays!Ordered this piece of equipment several months ago. Worked great at my gym. Easy to change the settings and different timers.However, the plug wire was flimsy after unpacking it. Wrapped it in electrical tape to protect it and make it more sturdy. A few days ago the clock turned off. Took the tape off and the wires were exposed. Clock no longer works because the power supply is busted.
