## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do you remove the old ferrule?**
A: It may or may not a screw on tip. I had one that wasn’t and ended up ruining the cue.

**Q: are all ferrules the same size?**
A: Yes. All of the ferrules were the same size.

**Q: Newbie player here...How do these stay on the sticks, do you glue the "base" onto the stick?**
A: For those who have not done this before, you should get a pool cue repair kit from a sporting goods store. This comes with tip glue and a clamping device for repairing tips.

If you choose not to buy a kit, I would suggest you use epoxy and set up a rig to keep the tip centered on the tip, if you need to replace the white part.

The pool cue tip without the white part will be lathed down to a smaller diameter. You use special glue or epoxy to glue the white part to the cue, and it must be centered perfectly. Otherwise, it will be eccentric, or oblong, and not as accurate.

The tips(black part) in the photo then screw into the white part and come with a tip preinstalled or previously glued to the tip.

Most of the tips I have repaired in the past only needed the black threaded piece with the tip and not the entire assembly. If you use a cue clamp, it makes it a lot easier to center the tip to the cue, but if you are cheap or inventive I am sure you can figure out a solution.

I would advise against using wood glue because it dries too slowly, and will not bond to the plastic (white part), and do not use hot glue due to the same reason dries too fast, and will not adhere fully to the plastic.

**Q: How does the ferrule attach to the stick? I've always used glue on tips. Thanks!**
A: Be cautious with the type of adhesive you use. With time and use, the plastic will tend to get slightly loose or may even crack. Use Elmers Carpenters Wood Glue. It is very durable and also allows removal of the plastic tip without breaking or damaging the wooden male pin on your stick. To remove the plastic, use a small pair of channel lock pliers and slowly twist if possible. If not, grasp it tightly and gently tap the pliers until it slides off. Do not sand the male tip, it will not fit snugly enough to allow for a solid bond.
Other adhesives will penetrate the wood, generally causing it to swell and will result in destroying the pin. I have repaired literally hundreds of cue's using this method and have never broken a pin. the bond normally lasts upwards of 3-5 years.

Bought for my dad. He got a pool table that needed a little TLC and we found this for the sticks. They work great.

    Bought then returned

*by J***Y on Reviewed in Canada on 22 October 2020*

I bought these and then promptly returned them. There was no problem with quality that I could see. The issue was that my cues had glued-on tips. I knew this when ordering the replacements, but thought that I could still install these. It didn't really occur to me that I wouldn't be able to simply slip them on, I would need to reduce the diameter of the end of the cue. Didn't feel like going that route so I just returned them and bought glue-on tips instead. Painless return, as usual with Amazon.
