I do not know if you have popups on top of that as I have bought "Ad-Free" version. The "Ad-Free" is permeated with Ads. Your lock screen will have Amazon ads for whatever they want you to buy, my record is 5 of these pop ups at the lock screen. Once you unlock you will often find an Amazon ad at the beginning of your New Items row, shoving one off your books off screen, so you can't access it like normal. Then there is their internet browser which will pack any pages you visit full of ads, on top of monitoring everything you do. They do not want you to install a browser with either privacy in mind or ad blocking. I'm guessing the ad supported version has all these additional ads, just like the "Ad-Free" version. As full of ads as the "Ad-Free" version is, you may as well go with the ad supported to save money as it only adds one ad at the lock screen where Amazon dumps their ads in the "Ad-Free" version. As for apps, Ad Supported is the way most "free" apps work. Amazon can't stop that and if they did, odds are there would be lawyers chatting real soon after they did it. **Q: The description says google play store not supported. does this mean that amazon prevents it from running or merely that they don't endorse it?** A: I was able to download Google Play as I needed it to install an item prep purchased on Samsung phone that was good for 7 devices. However; the point is that I did not want to give gmail (google)full access to my Amazon device as I use my Fire for different purposes, such as prime, books, audiobooks, you tube (Amazon offers you tube app), email, general web surfing. I figure that for the sale price it is very much worth it. If I want to do anything more, I would not spend full price but get a second tablet or affordable small 2 in 1 laptop more suitable for those other things. Of course I would prefer Google friendly apps, but not at the cost of safety. So, don't get the 10.1 plus, get the 10.1 on sale and save the money. I have the 8hd plus from last year because of the wireless charger and it beats the case. Finally I can watch or listen something anywhere next to me without props and set a timer to fall asleep to. Battery is great. As I keep saying, stop comparing Fire to other tablets. Like comparing apples to... wel!... oranges. **Q: I have the last 10” tablet so is this new one worth getting?** A: I've had A LOT if kindle fires, right now I have the same you do. I purchased the newest one for my grandson for Christmas 2021 & once I checked his out I deciced I'll be upgrading to the new one. First thing I noticed is lighter which is big for me since I take it everywhere. Also the newest imo has better design; it has same screen size 10 and more screen, there isn't that 1 inch black edge that puts has. Amazon is amazing and easy with almost every return. My advice get the newest if you don't think it's worth it you can always return it. **Q: I would like to trade in my old kindle and apply toward this new one. i want to use my old til i get my new. can i apply trade in $ and savings befor** A: Previously I bought a upgraded fire with a trade-in on Black Friday. I was able to use the Black Friday sale price and whatever discount I got from the trade-in on the same purchase. On prime day I traded in another fire because the $20 gift card for the trade-in and the 20% coupon plus the sale price made it irresistible. I didn’t need a new fire. However Amazon refused to honor the 20% off and told me I can’t combine offers anymore because that’s their terms of service. Customer service was no help. The guy who said it’s a scam about the trade-in and the coupon is right .
