This Pro Hear ll amplification and protection device supposedly amplifies those sounds which you want to hear and filters out noise that one does not want to hear. According to the written instructions and information included their brochure, this device is a ---“high quality hearing amplification instrument that provides a comfortable level of conversations with your family----while protecting your hearing from loud sounds”.This device using a “Sound Activated Compression (SAC) circuit combined with an earplug helps to protect hearing from loud sounds such as muzzle blasts”. My use included a custom molded ear plug in one ear and the Pro Hear in the other. When using it on the firing range I find that it does not diminish the loud sounds as purported.A call to the Pro-Hear’s manufacturer technical people resulted in very conflicting information. Specifically, two different representatives emphatically said that the product was not for purposes of diminishing gunfire noise and that it was for amplification only. This is in direct conflict to their users guide information. They would not accept the return of the Pro Hear, and they disavowed any responsibility for the misinformation; although they did agree to that which is written is in error.Further, the mail-in registration card provided by the company contains a brief questionnaire regarding the user’s primary use. Among the user options are: Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays. (These indeed result in muzzle blasts which the customer support people say is not the purpose of the instrument).The manufacturer’s direction is to return it to Amazon. Be aware Amazon will charge a significant restocking fee should it be returned.This instrument is a waste of money. If you are looking for protection from loud noises such as gun blasts, which are what this instrument is advertised to do, go elsewhere.I believe that essence of that which is described above is fraudulent, and that as a minimum AMAZON ought not to sell this product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pro Hear II Will Work for You! *by M***R on October 8, 2015* I will be the first to admit that my hearing is not what is used to be. Be it the years of firecrackers or shooting guns with sub-par hearing protection, I needed something to amplify sounds. I use it bird hunting and use only one unit, in my left ear, and plug my right ear for even greater protection. Over the ears I have had some hearing loss so I like the compression features for protection and the high fidelity, amplified sound.
