I have very painful plantar fasciitis, and have to wear supportive shoes during the day, or I have great difficulty walking. But I don't want to carry germs from outside / public into my home and onto my carpet (Public restrooms, enough said). These covers keep the carpet clean, but also provide great traction on ceramic tile. I dress to shoes for the day, and these covers only come off when I leave the house. They appear very well made, and should last quite a while (washable, too).I ordered a larger size, based on reviews. Reason being is that a sticky feeling is left on the bottom of the bowling shoe then a powder has to be applied to get a sliding feel back. Perhaps this may go away in time.
