They revert back to full volume and chime number one. I was hoping to use one downstairs in the kitchen. It can stay on full volume. But the one upstairs is going to be near our bedroom and my wife does not want to be awoken by a loud chime when she is trying to sleep. This type of wireless doorbell will not meet our needs if it cannot retain volume settings through power outages. Angry wife or wireless doorbell fun? I had a similar bell with only one ringer and after a few years it died and couldn't be fixed. This was easy to install and now allows me to hear the doorbell all the way in my basement office, which is great for deliveries. There are a lot of tunes but most are pretty obnoxious, I just use the standard ring.
