Our plumber installed a separate, dedicated check valve elsewhere in our hot water loop. **Q: Can this replace a 59896777 model?** A: You can call Grundfos or their reps but it could take days for them to return the call , that was my experience. The 5989676 is the same pump as the 5989677 without the timer or the check valve. If you have a need or desire for the timer get the "77" model the check valve is a nice to have feature but not essential and I already had on inline so the "76" pump worked fine. All specs otherwise are the same EXCEPT the water temp can be hotter if you do not have a timer. In household applications you should have the water hotter then 115F anyway so either pump is fine.
