I replaced a "generic" optical cable I'd been using with the Integra surround receiver (now replaced also) and the difference in sound quality was nothing short of unbelievable. The sound is much clearer overall, and I can hear instruments and even some dialogue that didn't make it through the old cable. An added bonus is that when watching a DVD movie dialogue now matches the actors lip movements perfectly.
