MUST be Submersed *by L***Y on July 13, 2012* Works OK. Mini in size for sure. Pump must be submerged for it to work correctly- My Mistake, but it didn't specify that. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good 12v DC pump for small applications *by R***N on January 3, 2013* I bought this pump to do an experiment to see if water could be kept in a liquid state in sub-freezing conditions. The topic of keeping water from freezing came up during a recent winter camp out. So after searching the internet for options I decided to give this method a try. I put two gallon jugs in the freezer (0 degrees F) one with this pump inside the other without as a control. Left over night the control jug was frozen solid but the jug with the pump had an inch of ice around the inside perimeter with liquid water in the center of the jug. The experiment worked but since I needed power to run the pump (I used an old 120VAC to 12VDC converter) it doesn't seem to practical for field use. If you have power just run a small heater to keep the water from freezing, right?So what's all that have to do with the pump? Well it shows that this little pump is pretty tough. It ran for several hours in sub-freezing conditions. It runs well using any old converter you may have lying around and circulates enough water to keep water from freezing. I bought an 8 slot AA battery holder from Radio Shack and using Eneloop rechargeable batteries was able to run the pump for about 6 hours. I think I may use this pump to dispense water from 5 gallon jugs when camping or may just use it to make a small outdoor "water feature".
