You want the joint to have minimal slop but still spin freely and quietly. If it binds, you need a thinner clip. On the Volvo 740 driveline where I installed these, none of the clips were thin enough and I had to get different snap rings. **Q: Will this fit rear drive shaft on a 96 Jeep Cherokee 4x4** A: it was an option on the rear driveshaft, but they also used a 5-811x on the rear of some xj's. If it is an outside snap ring it is the 5-1310x, if it is an inside snap ring it is 5-811x. thanks **Q: Will this fit a 1997 Toyota T100 4x4? I am finding contradicting information online** A: Based on your application 1997 Toyota T100 4X4 the 5-1310-1x would not be the correct u-joint part number, the correct u-joint would be part number 5-1510x **Q: Will this fit a 1999 chevy c6500?** A: Based on your vehicle, 1999 Chevy C6500, Dana/Spicer u-joint part number 5-1310x would not fit the main drive shaft(s) in this vehicle. The only drive shaft in this vehicle that the 5-1310x could possible fit is if you have a PTO drive shaft, and even then the 5-1310x may not be the correct u-joint. Any u-joint for a Chevy C6500 (Class 6-7) truck is determined based on an OEM part number or by dimensions, the reason is these trucks and same for Class 8 trucks are used in many different types of applications and so the drive shaft in them can be several different series (sizes). So a 1999 Chevy C6500 main drive shaft(s) could use any of the following driveline series: 1410, 1480, 1550, SPL100 (all Outside snap Ring style) or 1610, 1710, 1760 (Bearing Plate "Style" = plates on end of cap with two retaining bolts) or SPL140, SPL170 which are retained by a two bolt retainer, the caps have no "bearing plates". All these possible series of u-joints would be a different part numbers and be different sizes/dimensionally. So in order for us to determine what u-joint you need , we would need to know the dimensions of the current u-joint, cap diameter, cap to cap dimension and how it is retained.
