Because they are silicone they I like to put a plate under the mold to get a more perfect ball. Also if you use hot or warm water in the mold the ball turns out clearer. If you use cold water the ball is white like a normal ice cube. I have mainly used water. I did use Pepsi once, I advise using a turkey baster if you are using anything other than water unless up don't mind loosing some liquid.
