This capper is designed for "two-way" or "homebrew" bottles because it grabs the neck tightly to ensure the cap is crimped with the pressure centered around the neck. Using this capper - or any like it - on "one-way" or "single-use" bottles may cause thinner bottles to fail - especially with repeated use. (Most commercial beers/carbonated beverages are bottled in single-use bottles) I am very satisfied with the performance of this capper and would recommend its use as described.

**Q: Would you suggest the plastic or metal one? I would think the metal one would be more durable but a little bit heavier**
A: I haven't used the metal one but I've used two identical-LOOKING plastic ones: the Red Barron brand, and a less-expensive no-name one which appears to be made from the exact same molds, but of a more porous plastic.  If I could remake my choice, I would pay extra for the Red Barron brand capper because I think the plastic it's made from is more trustworthy to be stronger.  As it is, I use my no-name plastic capper carefully and have had no problems in about 40 bottles.  People say the primary risk of damaging the plastic manual cappers comes from pressing the handles down further than necessary to crimp the cap.

The plastic cappers aren't super lightweight either; I would check the shipping weight to compare between metal and plastic ones' weight.

**Q: Will it work to recap a lava lamp?**
A: This things will definitely work. I’ve tried capping everything I can think of, even things that don’t fit the claws and it capped it. I’ve yet to find one thing it failed to cap.

**Q: Will any of the cappers work on a double edge neck bottle?**
A: Single edge bottles only. No, goggle double edge bottles for a picture showing types of bottles and what the capper will work on.

**Q: Will this work for both screw off and pop top cap style bottles?**
A: No. It will tend to chip screw-on cap bottles
