So would like the wallplates to span 32". Can i buy an additional wallplate ?** A: The wallplate is 24" so it won't span 2 stud spaces (assuming studs @ 16" oc). I seriously doubt that you will be able to purchase just the wallplate. You could buy a complete assembly and just use the wallplate, but I don't think that is necessary. If you get a good solid screw connection to the center stud at the top and bottom of the wallplate, and use good quality toggle bolts at the ends of the wallplate into the drywall, that will be sufficient to carry the weight of a 50" TV. The connection to the stud will carry the weight of the TV; the toggle bolts will hold the wallplate tight to the wall at the ends. **Q: how far does the tv sit off of the wall when mounted?** A: I'd say 3" - 4" when the TV is straight vertical. With a 50" TV, it can tilt about 8 degrees before the bottom touches the wall such that the top edge is 7" to 8" off the wall. **Q: Can this hold a 70" flat screen? My TV weighs 90 lbs.
