How long will this stay cold? Is it recommended to buy additional packs?** A: This thing is lucky if it stays cold for 15 minutes. I have a similar one for the shoulder that I now have to strap around my knee that stays cold much longer. I put both in the freezer overnight and the shoulder pack, which is much thinner stays cold five times longer. I don't know how other people are getting anything more than 15 minutes out of this. **Q: Does the ice back reach the back of the knee also ? Because I usually ice both** A: I suppose it depends on how large your knee or leg is. My knee circumference going through the middle of my kneecap around is 16 inches and it does NOT go fully around. There is about a 3 to 4 inch gap in the back. I usually just rotate it and ice the back after or I put a small ice pack and strap it with the black straps attached to this ice pack.
