## Questions & Answers

**Q: How many feet will it detect under dirt or mud**
A: as with all detectors the size and alloy of the target effects depth....a dime at 6 inches will give you a signal, but a dime at 24 inches will not, on the other hand a car hood will give you a ping at 36 inches. on a personal note I bought mine to find the gold streaks in the bottom of the rivers I gold pan in

**Q: Can this be used with an anchor rope to find area of lost item in 25 ft of water without scuba driving**
A: I'm not sure but I wouldn't think so. You wouldn't be able to hear the detector signals.

**Q: In your Q&A someone asks about how deep you can take it and you state 20 feet. Are you sure it’s not 200 feet?**
A: The pinpointer is rated to 20 feet and the Sea Hunter is rated to 200 feet.

**Q: Buenos dia la garantia cubre o no cubre lo auricular sumegible ..?**
A: The manufacturer warranty does cover it. For more and specific details on this checkout the manufacturer’s website.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy and fun to use. Updated 202308.
*by D***S on May 20, 2018*

Got this for me and my son. Took it out in the yard to figure out how to use it. Took some coins and peices of different metals as targets and while trying to find a clean spot i ended up finding pennies dimes and a quarter plus several other peices of scrap metal, a tv cable line and a tungsten fishing weight. Deepest peice recovered was about 10 inches deep was a small peice of aluminium siding. Cannot wait to hit the beach tomorrow for a few hours. My chain link fence caused it to have bad reading when i was within 2.5 ft of it. And make sure you keep your shovel away from the hole. That got me once for a couple seconds. For a sand scoop/sifter i used the 32 oz plastic scoop and drilled 3/8 in holes in it. Works great and cost $2.Great package for the money. Very happy.Few years later and still love it. Discrimination, yeah not a fan. I leave it in normal and hit the springs where the lime stone holes catch everything. We have found everything from arrowheads, bullets, coins, tons of fishing weights, old glass, not much jewelry. This thing will shoot through 3 ft of sand. Be warned.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Buy if you dig everything, and want great depth on salt water beaches
*by S***M on January 20, 2017*

Extremely sensitive detector... so much so that IMO, it is really only suitable for the beach. It will detect items much deeper in dirt than I'd want to dig because a) this detector (like all PIs) is extremely sensitive to tiny iron junk (I found the striker wheel from a lighter under a foot of sand and it sounded like I had an aluminum can at 1 inch down) and b) a deep hole that is narrow and doesn't disturb the sod much is really hard to dig. And on that last item, this is really a detector that demands you dig everything... you can dial in some discrimination to reject the iron bits, but it'll reject stuff you want, and too, dramatically reduces overall sensitivity. So, I only have the patience to dig everything in the sand...

### ⭐⭐⭐ It's ok, but I expected higher quality from Garret.
*by S***D on May 25, 2020*

It's ok, but I expected higher quality from Garret. The Good:It seems to work fine. A little clunky in operation, but it does seem to function as advertised. The Bad:I am stunned at the really bad fit and finish. It's like it was manufactured somewhere in some large central Asian country, by people in their backyards with the engineering designs scrawled on bar napkins. Sharp edges on the stamped aluminum brackets. Nylon nuts and bolts? Seriously? Nothing fits together properly. The unit itself must be mounted UPSIDE DOWN for a standing/walking profile. Instructions are printed on the face of the main unit which bolts to the handle -- so of course you can't see them without physically unbolting the unit. Small things, yes, but you find yourself wondering why you spent SO MUCH MONEY to get something like this. The control knobs are mounted crooked in the housing. The battery cover was on so tight it required channel locks to remove it. The rubber cover for the ring on the battery cover has no positive means of attachment and will last probably ten minutes in the field. I could continue but you get the idea. I do, SO FAR, think it's a functional unit -- I've tested it all of five minutes in the yard. But this thing was pretty close to $1000 by the time it got to me in SE Asia (took over two months) and while that wasn't the purchase price, I feel a little miffed not to have received something whose outward appearance of quality would make me feel proud to own it. As it stands, it looks like a $99 bargain basement sale item. The thing is, all of these aesthetical shortcomings are easily solved and it wouldn't cost Garret a dime -- it would, however, cost them just a little attention to detail, which they were clearly unwilling, or not smart enough, to consider. I would be very wary before I shelled out for another Garret product. Too bad. I thought they had a great name, before this.
