## Description

desertcart.com: Tru2form - Urban Beat : Gloria Araya-Quinlan: Movies & TV

Review: workout is repetitive. - I personally didn't find it to be interesting. it music isv the same beat over and over and over, it's not a workout video which actually makes you want to workout. after the first 10 minutes all you want to do is turn it off.
Review: Short and pointless - NOTE: Because desertcart currently has two product pages for this same DVD, I am posting this review on both product pages. When I first discovered Gloria Araya-Quinlan's Latin workouts, I really loved them. I thought she was an excellent instructor, seamlessly linking together dance combos that worked well together. However, as I've gotten into her hip-hop workouts, I've realized that Latin is definitely more of her forté. Her hip-hop workouts (including this one) are severely disjointed. While the other ones I have done at least were always geared toward a beginner/intermediate exerciser, this are all over the place, making it not enjoyable for beginners, intermediates, and advanced dancers. The DVD is broken down into 6 5-minute sections, only 3 of which are cardio dance. The following are my opinions of each: WARM UP - Unnecessary. This is simply an awkward mix of dance steps. There is nothing that separates it as a warm up. It isn't cardio at all, and it doesn't stretch out the body. Combo 1 - Incredibly slow. Gloria breaks down the moves to points where beginners can easily follow but still not get a good workout. I didn't elevate my heart rate until the very end when she finally sped things up. The moves weren't challenging at all. Combo 2 - Badly taught. After elevating my heart rate slightly in the last routine, Gloria slowed it down again by breaking down the first step of the routine. This move is the easiest of the routine, though, and she doesn't break down the harder moves later on in the combo, which makes no sense! I was able to follow along after messing up quite a bit with the faster, more challenging moves. Combo 3 - Confusing. Once again, Gloria breaks down the moves but not long enough to learn them. The moves are more complex here. I finally began to get a good workout, but I never fully mastered the moves. Routine - Infuriating. Gloria puts together all three combos with no review and expects you to jump right in. It would have been a decent workout, if Gloria didn't pause every 30 seconds to let her backup dancers do freestyle solos! What is the point of this DVD? To get a workout? Or to watch young women do obviously-choreographed "freestyling"?! Cool Down - Wonderful. This was honestly a really well done part of the DVD. There was adequate stretching, and my body did feel relaxed by the end. This DVD is pretty bad. While the moves are cool, they are awkwardly strung together. The easy steps are broken down, while the more complex ones aren't, making a workout pretty nonexistent. The music is pretty much just a beat, and the camera work is atrocious. Then, why do I give this DVD 3 stars instead of 2? For one thing, I've honestly seen worse ( Madonna Grimes Groove to the Moves ). Also, it IS possible to get somewhat of a workout with this DVD once you finally master the moves. Finally, while it's not the best workout, it's not boring. I was frustrated but entertained while doing it. I wasn't necessarily waiting for it to be over. Overall, I probably won't try this workout again for a very long time, and I don't recommend it. If you're looking for a better Gloria Araya-Quinlan workout, try Tru2form: Reggaeton - Latin Hip-Hop Workout or Crunch: Fat Blaster Goes Latin [VHS ]. If you're looking for an effective hip hop workout, try 10 Minute Solution: Hip Hop Dance Mix (beginner/intermediate), Dance Off the Inches: Cardio Hip Hop (beginner/intermediate), Dance with Lisa: Hip Hop Cardio Made Simple (advanced), or Dance Fitness for Beginners with MaDonna Grimes: Urban Street Heat (beginner/intermediate).

### ⭐ Horrible
*by A***R on March 2, 2009*

The instructor barely gives you any directions. The camera angles are annoying. For example you get views of a backup dancers' abs, but not of feet actually doing the steps & without instruction how can you follow along? The backup dancers lose their timing, and look totally unauthentic as hip hop dancers. My favorite is when the instructor loses her place. Lol! Don't try it, you'll be disappointed. I only finished it b/c I'm stubborn.
