Or does it only work with the newer 40 pin 80 wire cables?** A: It will work with either cable, however your speeds may be limited; the original 40 pin cable was good to 33 MB/s and the 80-pin cable which reduces cross-talk allowed for speeds up to 133 MB/s. Its always better to use the 80 pin cable which reduces cross-talk and improves performance. SATA starts at 150 MB/s and using the 40 pin cable will reduce the transfer speeds a lot **Q: I have an old IDE system with no SATA on the motherboard - I need to replace the hd with a ssd sata drive - can i use this adapter?** A: I think it should, so long as your sata drive has the right wafer like connections on one side, it should fit, but you might find trouble mounting your hard drive in the normal place, because it fits tight to the drive and keeps the hard drive from sitting right in the tray. **Q: Anyone use this to mod ps2?** A: The spacing on the connections of the ps2 are a bit different,but if you can connect from ps2 to the bridge it will work.
