I did, and out of the dryer came a matted, knotted ball---it was useless, so I gave it to my neighbor for their cat to bat around. From now on, I'll do as others recommend----- Take it outside and shake hard to clean it. When washing becomes necessary, hand wash in the sink and hang to air dry. I LOVE the duster---just wiser now on how to clean it! : ) **Q: Will this work well for books/bookshelves?** A: Perfect for books and bookshelves. It is very soft, the fullness grabbing every bit of dust. I bought it for cleaning shutters that always seemed dusty no matter what I tried.
