Unfortunately, we don't have a number on the amount of water this can filter before the end of its life. My assumption is that this depends on how much calcium is in the water and being filtered. Some have reported as little as 6 months, some have reported years. **Q: I have tried multiple hoses and 2 filters and the hose leaks profusely at the connection or the pressure pushes the hose off. Looking for help.** A: Make sure the gaskets are seated. Also you can use 'Plumbers Tape' for such threads that may help. Check the quality of the threads on your hose and on the unit for any damage or defect. I have mine on full with no filter (I installed a simple hose screen with built in gasket sand filter) and it wanted to lean because the mesh screen insert is slightly thicker, but the tape sealed it just fine. Just wrap it counter to the direction of the movement of screwing the filter on (so it doesn't unwrap) for 1.5 to 2 complete wraps and it should be fine if everything else is kosher. **Q: The label on the cartridge clearly states this filter is for solid sediments, not dissolved solids like salts. Is that hold true?** A: This contains Polyphosphates, for dissolving calcium. Polyphosphates are approved by FDA and used in municipal water supplies. When your Ph goes > 7.5 bicarbonates precipitate causing plugging. The polyphosphates work around the problem. Obviously if they were 100% effective we would have the water problems we have.
