I tried a few tube combinations but finally settled on Phillips/Svetlana C front end and Tung-Sol for the power tubes. The cost back then including shipping from PRC was just GBP325.00.I have to say, this amplifier punches many, many times above it’s weight and even now at double that old price, it’s STILL a no-brainer in terms of VFM.Great build quality and meaty transformers, (though not toroidals as the cylindrical covers hint at). 40W never sounded so good.I have tried several different sources including vinyl through a full RIAA blueprinted YAQUIN MS23B and NAKAMICHI CR4/CR5 decks, and a modified Yaqin CD Player.
