I'm almost mad, because in some ways it sounds better than my main amp (modified Princeton Reverb with a 12" speaker). Plugged into a few standard british voiced guitar speakers, the sound is excellent. By adjusting the tri-q and gain knobs you can get anything from clean and moderately overdriven fender tones to more distorted Marshall tones. In my opinion, and with my setup, the trip-q control was best on the lower side of it's range, but I'm more partial to the fender style amps, so take that for what it's worth. The amp is very responsive to pick attack and behaves in a tube like manner. I'm looking forward to gigging with it. I have no doubt it will have more than sufficient volume for pretty much any gig, as the 2 watt setting is almost too loud to play in a home setting. I use the Reverb subtly, and it sounds just fine to me. You naturally get a full spectrum sound, but the high cut can be used to dial it back to sound a bit less hi-fi. Be mindful, it's recommend that you connect a speaker to the output when using the xlr, because the power amp is used to seeing a load. It sounds alright without one connected, just not as good as it does though a speaker. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Packs a lot of power in a small unit *by E***Y on Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2017* The Quilter ProBlock 200 is a powerful guitar amp in a small unit. Actually, very powerful, I blew a 80W speaker when I pushed the output around 100W so beware. The reverb is pretty good. I wish there were more EQ options but I suppose you can't have everything in such a small package. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lightweight, powerful, great sound *by S***S on Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2017* I've had this amp for a few practices and gigs, really digging it so far. Lightweight, excellent tone and response, and it's louder than I'll ever need.I love how this amp has a natural response like a tube amp. The notes have an organic sag/bloom, much better than the stiff harsh response you get from most solid state amps.I've used it as a mini rig for practice with an Orange 1x8 cab with weber 50watt 8in speaker, at bar gigs unmiked with a weber 1x12 cab (no problem cutting through) and tonight at practice I ran direct to the pa. In all cases it sounded great.The pro block can take pedals very well. I've used my Archer overdrive, Tim overdrive and King of Tone with it. All sound good. No problem with fizzy sounding distortion. I have also run it with the gain at about noon and used an ep booster for a lead/volume boost which gives you some grit from the amp. Very surprised at how natural it sounds.The tone controls are different, but basically the tri q knob has more bass and scooped mids to the left. To tighten up the low end and bring in some midrange turn to the right. The hi cut is full highs to the left and rolls off highs, brings in upper mids as you roll to the right. So with two knobs you can control bass, mids and highs. Plus you can also control treble with the tone knob on your guitar. Not your typical layout but I've never had a problem dialing it in.And it comes with built in reverb. I always like having some reverb for depth. This reverb is a little longer tail than I'm used to with Fender amps, but still not bad. It saves the trouble of having to have an outboard reverb pedal.Overall I am very happy with the Power Block. Great gigging amp that is light, powerful and consistently sounds good in a variety of applications. I won't be selling my tube amps any time soon, but this is a great low maintenance, powerful, light weight amp that really sounds good. Since I got it, I've used it more than any of my other amps.
