They are basic looking enough, not tacky, and it takes some effort to slide the cover over so I don't have to worry about the baby being able to do it while my back is turned for a second! If there was any downside it is that your item needs to be very securely plugged in because of the space created between the outlet and the front of the plug. I have one plug that fits everything loosely and has always been an issue before I even had these covers, so don't blame the covers! The outlet slides have enough tension that I cannot slide them open using the pad of my fingers. I have to use my nail on an edge to expose the socket and manipulating it afterwords is difficult. This lead me to believe that a toddler would have difficulty keeping them open to explore without tools and a lot of effort. The box came with the ten plates and enough hardware (screws and hole plugs) to install them. The reason I took off one star is because they only came with 3/4" screws and I needed to buy shorter ones to install them.
