Their was already some old (looked like particle board) pegboard on the walls, but some of the holes had widened or snapped off. I have lots of heavy tools/garden equipment and did not trust the original pegboard to stand the test of time. I purchased 6 units (3 kits) of this Galvanized Steel Pegboard and could not be more happy with the results. If your garage studs are exposed like mine, then installation is easy as can be. One board at a time, simply line it up where you want it, leave 1/2 the stud for the next board, mark the holes, drill the pilots, put the board back, drill the provided screws (large & heavy duty) and move onto the next one. I have 4 boards lined next to each other on one wall and 2 on wall to the right, making a 64"x32" space, which was perfect for the workbench that I have under it. The workbench that I ended up going with was the "2x4basics 90164 Workbench and Shelving Storage System" and it all worked great together! I have 5 power drills, a circ saw, sawzall and three baskets with screws/nuts/bolts, etc on just one board. I bought the "Stanley Tools 819841 51 Piece Pegboard Hook Assortment", which has been OK. If any of you find great pegboard accessory hook sets, please comment on this post and let me know where to get them. Do two boards come with an order qty (1)?** A: Yes, my order came with two pieces, each was 16 inches wide. I ordered two sets (4 panels total) and connected them all together for one 32 inch by 64 inch pegboard. **Q: Which hooks should I buy? I have tried multiple 1/4" hooks and none work.** A: They make these rubber pegboard hole gaskets and I bought them on amazon Pegitz Pegboard Peg Locks 50PCS (1/4 inch, Black) they have both sizes 1/4 and 1/8 inch. I bought them in white and they work great. Worth the extra investment for the smaller pegboard accessories. **Q: Could I hinge these together, to create a zig-zag formation, something like a dressing screen works, with multiple sets?** A: Yes. you could probably attach them together with piano hinges. It would require some drilling of holes on the sides of the panels. I would probably attach them together with some #8-32 short flat head machine screws and nylon insert lock nuts. You would lose some of the weight supporting ability by not having them secured to a wall, but they would still hold a fair amount of weight if needed. For strength I would try to keep the screw spacing at about every six inches. It would make a very interesting shoji style screen. **Q: Has anyone installed this to drywall only?** A: Yes. I used the anchors that came with it. It's holding up fine. I have a complete set of copper cookware on it. Also have several saute pans, also copper. I love it. I mounted it myself. It was easy to install. But, if you can get someone to help you, it goes faster. Much easier to have someone hold it while you screw it to the wall.
