Actually Wonder Shells do a lot of different things for an aquarium. One of the things they do is make the water more hard. Now, I don't know what kinds of animals and/or plants you have, but if you smash a Wonder Shell up and add it to your tank all at once, there is a possibility that the water could become Way More Hard than will be healthful for your aquarium inhabitants. So I absolutely do not recommend doing so. They melt very nicely over time and do exactly what they are advertised as doing. Have Patience!!
