Dimethicone is in the silicone family. That said, I use this on my long hair at the advisement of my hair restoration salon and don't notice build up, greasiness, etc. **Q: Is this the legitimate product???** A: Yes. I use it on my hair both wet before I dry it and sometimes after I dry it. It helps with frizzes (I have straight hair) and adds shine. I swim a lot so my hair gets dry. This product helps with that dryness. Plus it smells like vanilla cookies when it is first put on the hair. I have purchased it several times. **Q: Does this hair oil smell like the Smooth Again shampoo?** A: It smells like vanilla cookies. I am not familiar with the Smooth Again shampoo. **Q: Is this the one that also works like a gel?
