I make these sheets the old way: flat, and large enough to tuck around a mattress. I am incensed whenever I have to make a bed with a mean spirited, stingily proportioned fitted sheet – straining to get the last corner down, seeing the sides roll up again like window shades if the elastic isn’t hooked under the bottom. Once on, the sides too often ride up to expose an unappetising inch or two of mattress or mattress protector. Part of the problem is that mattresses seem to get deeper all the time: who wants to have to think of these things? Fitted sheets use far less fabric than a traditional flat sheet, and ‘sheet sets’ not only have a fitted bottom sheet, but the top sheet is usually short. Modern fitted sheets and short flat top sheets may seem like a convenience, but the impetus behind them was to save on fabric. This is a cost benefit for the manufacturer, as he is quite literally cutting corners. The traditional way, usurped by this twentieth century penny-pinching, was to have flat sheets large enough to be securely tucked in all the way round. Hospital corners provide a time-honored neat finish but if you don’t care, you don’t have to do them! However this skill is still very much a feather in the domestic cap, right up there with hollandaise sauce. I've been wanted a linen sheet set for a while but just didn't have the money to spare. Eventually i had the Ikea linen duvet cover and then got the H&M bottom linen sheet, there were no inexpensive top linen sheets anywhere so when i had the money i got this one after reading great things online. It certainly didn't dissapoint. It's cool and crisp, and for reference not as cool and not as crisp as percale sheets. It needed 2 washes before it was comfortable to me (i tried it the night i received it without washing it, lol, ouch) and i look foward to it still softening up.Oh, and if you are looking for a "full size" you can get the twin for the flat/top sheet but will need the queen for the bottom. The twin works as the full top sheet b/c Rough Linen sheet sizes are larger than typical flats because as you see in the pic, to make it a bottom sheet you use the tuck and fold method w/ a flat sheet (and her first 3 sizes are all 118" long, cuz that's what she cuts all her sheets from). So a standard "full/double" flat sheet is 81 x 96 inches and her twin size sheet is 80 x 118. : ). Doesn't work out the same for queen or king. They're large in order to do the tuck and fold, but still not big enough to go a size down for your flat sheet. She also states on her site, if your mattress is taller than 12" go up a bed size for sheet you'll use on the bottom. I haven't done the math on that though.Also, the white color is that slightly off white, not an optic white. (actually, very close to what in paint colors they refer to as 'linen white', lol). : ). I love optic white, but i'll live. :D. It's actually a tiny bit lighter/brighter than Ikea linen duvet cover, just by a hair though. ### ⭐⭐ Luxury *by F***M on Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2016* EDIT: I changed my rating from 5 to 2 stars. I have had this for about 2 1/2 years. I invested the money in this because I thought it was going to last a long time. I just took this out of the washer and it has a huge hole in in. Upon examination, I see the material wearing thin in the area around the hole. I have read that good linen sheets can last 20 years. No way am I going to spend this amount of money again. When I contacted the company, they suggested I sew it. I did try. The photo I uploaded with the huge hole is the one I actually had sewed. The linen was so threadbare that the stitching didn’t hold.This is a very high quality sheet. Understand that you are getting one bedsheet. It is scratchy at first, but it softens beautifully. I have also used their kitchen towels for years. Linen is much more comfortable than cotton or silk sheets. When I first switched to linen I purchased Restoration Hardware stone washed linen sheets because I wanted a traditional fitted sheet. After the RH sheets wore through after 1 year of daily use, I purchased these sheets. These sheets are much higher quality linen. I have had my first set for over two years and they look the same as they did when they were new. This linen gets softer with each wash. Now that I am used to using a flat sheet rather than a fitted sheet I prefer it.
