What is it I have to remove from my existing machine since it’s a fusion drive?** A: It depends on what you are doing. Just the existing hard drive. In the fusion drive iMac(s), there is a SATA hard drive and a SSD blade drive (I forget the format). Getting to the SATA drive requires a partial disassembly, getting the blade drive requires a full disassembly(the blade drive is on the back side of the motherboard). I saw conflicting advice on whether both the blade drive and a replacement SATA SSD drive would work together, I think that they would, but since a larger sata SSD would cost a lot more than a hard drive, I went with replacing the 3tb hard drive with another 3tb hard drive. For my iMac with a fusion drive,I used this kit (with the smallest available SSD) to replace a failed hard drive, I bought a new 3TB hard drive. I did not use the provided SSD in my iMac. The OWC kit contained everything needed for replacing the hard drive. The process is not hard but you should watch the OWC video a few times, make sure that the old adhesive is removed completely, use the "pizza" cutter to separate the display panel from the case, and so forth. I bought the owc kit, a 3TB hard drive, and second set of the adhesive strips. **Q: Another reviewer wrote somewhere that his imac didn’t recognize the new ssd in his kit for the 21” imac?
