Review: One alcohol fuel bottle to rule them all... - I am a big fan of this fuel bottle, and from my searching, it seems to be the #1 item to store/transport alcohol fuel. It is certainly the professional way to go about backpacking with an alcohol or multi-fuel stove. Depending on the toxicity of the fuel one is using, it is a great item to use to ensure no leaks, because that methanol in denatured alcohol or HEET is some very nasty stuff if ingested or absorbed in the skin. I have been using Everclear for the guaranteed saftey at the bit higher fuel cost... while also allowing for spiked drinks on the trail, hah. Ok, so maybe you aren't convinced from just the safety perspective. This thing should have some great features above and beyond a home-brew bottle/storage solution, right? To that, indeed it does. First and foremost, it is a durable plastic bottle with a reinforcement ring around the neck. The overall weight is lighter than I expected. The screw cap is where the real safety and convenience come into play, though. The cap's threads are sealed via a snug-fitting O-ring, and the release valve is sealed by a spring-loaded rubber contact seal. It is simplicity itself, and well-crafted. To dispense the fuel, simply partway unscrew the plastic nut on top, which will allow some head room to push down on the assembly against the spring and open the contact seal, allowing fuel to flow. One caveat, push on the top button with the bottle upright if fuel is stored, because there will likely be some evaporated fuel under a bit of pressure, which will prevent sputtering when dispensing the fuel. edit: I am embarrassed to say that I forgot this step recently and the earlier hot day built up some pressure that sprayed a fine mist of alcohol up into the air and a bit on my head, fortunately it wasn't methanol Also, one drawback to the system is that if the bottle is held at too high of an angle while dispensing will allow fuel to flow out of both nozzles. I like the simplicity of the two nozzles, allowing one to act as an air inlet, but at the same time I feel it could have been made a little bit more fool-proof by instead having an air inlet with a simple check valve to prevent undesired fuel flow out the top side. Still, being careful to hold a full bottle horizontally, having some common sense, and practice will all make for a spill-free experience. This thing is near-perfect for dispensing small amount of alcohol fuel. Oh, and don't forget to shake a little bit of fuel out of the nozzle and tighten the top nut again in order to press the contact seal snug (not too tight).

**Q: What is the overall height and diameter of this bottle?  Is there a good carrier to put it in to attach to the outside of a pack?**
A: The bottle is about 12" tall with lid. It is 3 1/8" in diameter. I don't know of any good carrier to put it in. Since it's so tall I don't think it will fit good in a water pouch you see on most packs.

**Q: Would this work for transporting gasoline on a motorcycle?**
A: I also have a MSR bottle is made out of metal and has better cap for transporting gasoline check the msr bottle reviews it gets high marks from motorcycle riders,the trangia bottle is the best to carry denatured alcohol for their stove.

**Q: Isn't it strange that 0.3L is the highest?**
A: I bought the 1 liter bottle from the Amazon site.

**Q: Is the opening at the top large enough to fit a gas pump nozzle?**
A: I don't have one but I've read the Soto fuel bottles have a mouth wide enough to fit a gas pump nozzle.
I don't have a Soto liquid fuel stove but I'd like a Soto liter bottle or two to strap on my motorcycle ... just in case.

I am a big fan of this fuel bottle, and from my searching, it seems to be the #1 item to store/transport alcohol fuel. === REZENSION FÜR PRODUKT === Trangia Sicherheitsflasche 0,5 l, 115 g === AKTUELLER PREIS === 15,99€ === KURZKRITIK === Die Trangia Sicherheitsflasche ist aus Kunststoff, fasst 0,5 l Brennspiritus und wiegt gefüllt unter 500g! Durch den Sicherheitsverschluss ist sie bisher absolut dicht, der Spirituskocher lässt sich super damit befüllen (problemlos auch, wenn stärkerer Wind geht). === LIEFERUMFANG === Trangia Sicherheitsflasche aus Kunststoff. Gewinde an der Flasche außen mit einem Metallring verstärkt. Belüfteter Sicherheitsausgießer mit Sicherungsschraube. === ERWARTUNG === Für meine Rucksack-Outdoorküche habe ich eine kleine Flasche gesucht, da ich normalerweise maximal 3 Tage unterwegs bin und nicht jedesmal die große Spiritusflasche mitschleppen wollte. Da ich die Flasche sicherheitshalber (falls doch mal etwas auslaufen sollte) außen am Rucksack in einer Seitentasche transportiere, kann ich sie so zusätzlich mit einem Karabiner gegen Verlust sicher. Nach dem Befüllen des Brenners und dem Wiederverschluss der Flasche, sollte man das Herrentoilettensystem anwenden (noch mal Abschütteln, damit keine Tröpfchen mehr im Ausgießer sind). Hat man die Flasche im Rucksack oder einer Tasche und die Tropfen laufen aus, riecht der ganze Rucksack danach. Die Flaschenöffnung ist übrigens so groß, dass man sie aus einer handelsüblichen Spiritusflasche problemlos ohne zusätzlichen Trichter befüllen kann. === PRO === + Durch die rote Signalfarbe ist sie auch in der Wiese leicht zu finden und durch die Beschriftung wird jedem der sie in die Hand nimmt klar, dass sich kein Getränk darin befindet. + Durch den Kunststoff bruchfest und dennoch leicht. + Cleverer Verschluss, durch den Eingießer mit Belüftung lässt sich der Spiritusbrenner eins A befüllen. === KONTRA === - Bis jetzt nichts Negatives zu sagen. === EMPFEHLUNG === Die Flasche entspricht genau dem, was ich mir erwartet habe und ist prima verarbeitet.
