Ima beginner i need help** A: It is a good ruler if you are making Lemoyne star blocks, however you probably need other types of rulers more if you are a beginner. You will be making simpler blocks for a while till you are more confident. A 12" square, a 6" or 8" square and a 24" long ruler that is about 4" to about 6" wide are the first ones I would buy if I were just starting. You can make a lot of different blocks with those three rulers. You will add more as you get more experience. Good luck! The star is 1/2" smaller side to side and top to bottom than the block itself. I started working on an Edyta Sitar quilt called Stars Upon Stars and spent a weekend patiently making Lemoyne Stars with their dreaded Y seams. It wasn't too bad doing it the traditional way but I realized it was taking way too much time to be accurate and get the look I was going for. I thought there was a better way and Deb Tucker once again came to save the day. I watched the YouTube demo and thought: Yes!!! I need this. The directions are perfect so make sure you follow them. Don't think you can figure it out without reading, the instructions make it simple. I made two sample blocks last night after receiving it ans both came out perfect. And I mean perfect points, perfect seam allowances, perfectly matches seams, and perfect size without any fudging. I made the 3" blocks pictured with ease and was even able to do some stripe matching on the background that I find really pleasing. This tool is the real deal. Do not hesitate. It makes your work look better and saves you time and frustration.
