I can see the white circle but I can't see it magnify anything at all. Is mine broken or am I missing something?** A: It's probably working fine but you have to realize two things, it's designed for close work so if you have it too far away from whatever you're trying to view you're going to get the out of focus white circle. The second is if you have it close to or on top of whatever you were trying to look at you need to focus with the ring on the bottom. I thought mine was broken for a while until I figured out how to get it to focus. Finally you can also shift the focus when adjusting the magnification ring on top. If you change the magnification you will also need to refocus. Hope this helps **Q: How does this compare to the mm300? plain simple english please, i am not a scientist. i am using to inspect knife edges. thank you!!** A: I have Purchased 3 Carson microscopes 20-40x - light button must be held down to turn on - purchased for my grandson 40-60x - light has on off switch 60-120x - light has on off switch first I purchase the 60-120x to exam varroa mites in my bee hives. The magnification is so strong on 60x, the mites filled the viewer Both smaller units work great for looking a mites. 60-120x seems to work great to see scratches in the metal blade of a knife **Q: will this work good with plant trichomes? for example the cannabis plant** A: Good question, i use it for the same reason. As for its function its a really small scope, so steady hands and good eyes(and patients) are required. It takes a little time to focus it but it does allow you to see when your trichs are ready. For the price its worth it but if you can afford a bigger better quality one i would go with that. The built in light works well though. The over all size of is a little bigger than a large thumb (if that helps at all). **Q: Can I use it for histology slides?** A: Yes, this product would be able to clearly represent histology slides. At the same time it will be a bit harder to use than a fixed microscope, One made for or around the concept of such scientific practices. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐ Room for improvement. *by J***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 January 2021* I like Carson products and own several.Anyway...I have a Galaxy...The camera at it's best fitting to the phone has a Corona when taking a picture (see pic.1)You can lose it in editing your photo on your phone. (pic 2.)The results are better!Using this, I think you'd be very hard pressed to get any decent photo of any bug/insect as getting it focused takes some adjustment and a deal of luck.The zoom is fixed as well with which means you move the phone until you hit the focused sweet spot, which is sorta fiddly to do.To be fair I need/will try this outside in better weather, to see if I can find ways to make this work well for me - i'm thinking flowers/bark etc.(I'll update if I can find a better potential for this or if I feel more enthused with some good photos)It's a nice idea - which could work great with some refinements imo ' but certainly first impressions are underwhelming.I don't think this is completely useless as it it, neither would I reccomend it - it's just not fun to use and the results are a bit mehh.Thanks! ### ⭐⭐ Disappointing *by A***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 January 2020* Seemed like a good product but very plastic and not very robust.
