The lid screws on and off and is attached to an plastic arm on the flask so that you will not lose or drop the lid. The hole in the flask is quite small (less than half ain inch in diameter) so you will need a funnel to fill the flask. If you are looking for something that is ultralight for backcountry camping you should look at a plastic bag-type flask instead as this one is not lightweight. However, this is the best choice for a budget level metal flask and is durable enough to take a beating, get thrown around inside a backpack, and serve as an outdoor adventure companion.

I was looking for a rugged, reasonably priced flask for my backpack. I use a Stanley thermos and traveling mugs and this flask is the same high quality. I like the fact that the cap is attached and can’t be lost. This flask and my two 2 oz collapse stainless steel cups are perfect for a slopside apres ski aperitif with my ski partner.
