I use them to take fruit to work to snack on, like cherry tomatoes, grapes, and berries. I am able to take a serving or two to work and rinse them right before eating so that the fruit stays fresh and crisp. The colander comes out easily to rinse the fruit in the sink. Then you can rest it back in the bowl so there is no mess as remaining water drains. The pieces are easy to wash. The top gently locks when you twist it so it doesn't come open in my lunch bag. Someone gave me one and I quickly bought more.
