It's well-laid out, easy to follow and learn from, and includes online resources that make everything worthwhile. With your 10-dollar book purchase you get complete access to a full online library of videos, sound files, PDF files, lessons, play-alongs - I mean, it's almost insane what you are getting with this cheap but amazing book. Like I said, I have some band background, and I can tell you, it's really fun to sit with a group of musicians and play together in an ensemble. The online resources included with this book make this almost a reality! You can play dozens of different songs with (usually) several different kinds of accompaniment, from metronome alone to full symphony!
