I'd guess it would not be the answer for a shredder; unless of course, arthritic pain is totally getting in the way of your playing. On the other hand, this thing is very unlikely to go flying out of sweaty fingers. **Q: How will these sound on a banjo?** A: Dude, it is a pick. It will sound like any other pick. The only difference is how you hold it, and ANY stringed instrument can be played on. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ PYKMAX PICK SYSTEM A MAJOR HELP FOR HANDS *by W***R on May 19, 2017* This is the second Pymkax pick holder and pick I have purchased in a short time -- one is for backup and to keep in my second guitar case. I also added a couple of packs of replacement picks -- AND I have used standard picks MODIFIED with a DREMEL TOOL and installed in the Pykmax pick holder. Like most guitarists, I have favorite picks of various materials and shapes for different uses. Or perhaps just different moods.This little gadget is held loosely in your hand -- seems as if it doesn't do much, but it DOES keep your hand in a more relaxed position. I have arthritis in my hands -- but my right hand was crushed in the early 1990s. It could not be properly set. The doctor injected my hand with pain killer. Then he put my hand in a position in which I could move fingers and thumb properly and taped it that way until it healed. Believe it or not, I have full use of my hand -- even with some arthritis problems.HOWEVER, playing the guitar for any length of time apparently tenses the muscles in my hand enough to cause a couple of joints to freeze up and sort of pop before they behave normally. There is no sensible way to fix this problem considering the condition my hand is in. Playing the guitar WITH A RELAXED HAND is a great help.I think honestly that playing with a relaxed hand in probably a good idea for anybody -- Pykmax has a good product with LOTS of ways to develop that product -- provide more varieties of picks -- produce a pykmax which might be adjustable for size or pykmaxes in more sizes -- manufacture a pykmax which would hold the pick of the user's choice -- lots of ways to approach increasing a customer following.I think this is a great gadget. I see from customer reviews that a lot of people LIKE the Pykmax. I hope the company and the buying public won't be overly influenced by the sort of "professional snob" reviews -- Of course, there are loads of players who don't need such a thing -- Yes, if you're a pro, it might seem like a useless gadget -- Just wait til you get a little older and don't want to quit playing the guitar. Unfortunately the reviews in the professional publications often seem to belittle an item which could and should be a success commercially.I wish the Pykmax people success. I hope they will maintain the quality fo their product and persist in their good work.I, for one, am very satisfied with this product. I have been having issues with pain in my thumb and searching for anything that can help. The Pykmax works great. It really helps isolate what you are doing. The material feels durable. I got the purple 1mm pick size. I do like thicker Jazz III style picks though so thats why I give this a 4 but I have heard from them that they are going to release a thicker still so that is very excited. I have found that this helps my picking be more steady. ### ⭐ Useless *by C***R on June 12, 2014* I've been playing for 15 years and I can't even hold this thing.
