So I tend to think I'm a rare case who doesnt pick her graphic novels that way. I read the premise of this series and was immediately drawn in. I read the reviews here on Amazon from the customers and continued to be intrigued by this series and that's why I started reading it.I am glad I did. Scalped is a shock and awe kind of emoitional rollercaster. Especially if there is any part of it, you can personally relate to. Well this one resonates with me on a few different levels. Vol 3 Dead Mothers, is done in a masterfully compelling way. Where we get the stories of two dead mothers in parallel. Dash bad horse, continues to be the kind of brooding leading man that is far too hard to ignore for all his flaws and attitude.The artwork in this novel series is superb. The quality is outstanding. So I guess like the other reviewers, I'll have to rave. There is really, nothing wrong with this novel or its first three companions, other than there just isn't enough of it. Best Novel series, I've read so far. This series doesn't get worse at all, it just maintains its brilliant pace. It almost became difficult to keep track of characters, but to say that I became lost would be a lie. Jason Aaron gives us enough in each installment to follow along and enjoy. He has a great cast, that thankfully hasn't grown to large yet. The pages get filthier, the stories darker, and the tension extended. I haven't seen anybody call this series overrated, because it simply is not. All the hype is true.A family member of mine browsed through the pages of Scalped and said, "You're into some sick sh**." Yes, parts of this series are graphic, but I'm also into some dense sh**. I'm into some sh** that's historically eye-opening as well as fun and engaging. I read this sh** because it's smart as well as dirty. It has meaning through all of its absurdity.
