This is the most versatile and widely used of the heat treatable aluminum alloys. This alloy offers a wide range of mechanical properties. It has better corrosion resistance and weldability than alloys 2024 and 7075 though it not as strong. It is easily fabricated, has good formability and joining characteristics. It is weldable using all methods including furnace brazing. Typical applications include screw machine parts, truck bodies and frames, running boards, steps, floors, walkways, platforms, cover plates, trench covers, truck runways and almost any structural component. It is nonmagnetic, heat treatable, and resists stress cracking. Yield strength is approximate and may vary based on size and shape. 6061 Extruded Bar Conforms to ASTM B221, QQ-A-200/3
