I took in 1 stray and 2 farm kittens and my kitten from the shelter only was $75 (fixed, shots, and chipped). My other cats cost a few hundred each for shots and fixing them. No chip (that's $75 each cat). So, the shelter is best. I know you were joking but I read the comments and seeing a few "take in a stray" seemed nice, I just wanted to be honest and let you know that the shelter cats are cheaper and friendlier. Not shy or afraid of other pets usually as mine already was used to other cats, the smells of dogs, and had been handled by many strangers so she does not hide from company. **Q: Will this system fit on oblong toilets?** A: It does not fit my toilet seats. I’m so disappointed. All my toilets are nice bigger (not round) toilets & it doesn’t fit. I’m searching for some alternatives now. **Q: do they flush afterwards?** A: Smart cats can be trained to flush. HOWEVER it is not recommended, as they can find it quite fun and flush, flush, flush merrily away. **Q: Could this fit on top of a 5-gal (Home Depot) bucket? Don't want kitty going in toilet per se but don't want it stepping through litter!** A: I’m unsure if it would fit on top of the bucket securely. That said, it took me three months to train our cat and I only used the first level tray for a week. After that, there’s barely any litter to be used until he was completely trained. I kept the white rim on our toilet permanently so the cat has its own place to sit. I keep the lid up at all times and put the toilet seat rim down when I need it. Although she stopped at green level I considered that as a success story as there’s hardly any acciden and she managed to position herself properly while on the toilet (straight in the hole). A year ago we decided to adopt an adult Persian and decided to train her as well. The red level went well, but unfortunately she does not go beyond the amber level (when it comes to peeing - pees perfectly in the sandy area of the level, failed to position herself in the hole like my other cat). Pooping on the other hand has been on the floor and this experience has been very stressful and depressing to me. So my advice is, start early and be very patient with them.
