I mean if my life depends on it, I don't want a gimick and do whats nessesary** A: I've been bitten by a copperhead and didn't have my kit with me. I was in a remote area, several hours from a hospital. I would definitely used the Extractor if I would have had it with me. Don't cut yourself or you'll probably wind up with a much more serious problem. The truth is, you may not even have much of a reaction with a pit viper bite (copperheads, rattlers and moccasins) Chances are their venom will be depleted, or they may just not release much or any venom into the wound. After my bite, my ankle swelled up around the bite and turned black, but I didn't have any further reactions. Either way, it's really scary to get bitten and I will definitely use the Extractor immediately if it happens again. I use it with stings all the time and it works great. **Q: Would this pull a bee stinger out or should a person try to remove the stinger first?** A: Actually, the best thing to do is to keep the stinger in and the vacuum will suck the venom out through the stinger. The device itself will not pull the stinger out. Then remove the stinger with tweezers.I have done this numerous times and it has kept my reaction to the toxin to a bare minimum. You can actually see the venom come back out of the stinger. The most important thing is to use the device within the first five minutes of being bitten or stung.
