Having no friends threw a wrench in my plan. The wireless remote was fantastic -- it allowed me to take photos of myself without having to hazardously leap through the obstacle course that is my room and attempt to strike a pose before the timed camera went off (or, I lost track of time and snapped a photo of the puzzled expression on my face). Unfortunately, I lost my remote and, while only having one pair of eyes, my search was arduous and fruitless. I was back at square one; I was faced again with my original dilemma: make friends or dash in front of the camera and risk an out-of-focus shot. I came across the FotoTech ML-L3 Wireless Remote and I couldn't be more pleased; the product is almost identical to the original (only slightly thicker and less rounded) and functions just as well.
