The clip is so hard to close that it would be impossible to do it with the torch on a helmet, even off the helmet it is extremely hard to close the clip. The instructions suggest holding the clip against a heavy hard object to enable the clip to be closed, right there having to explain that the clip is troublesome should have been a warning sign to the designers. It takes cr123 batteries. **Q: Would it fit a Petzl best helmet?** A: It sure should, my Fire Helmet is thicker, and it works well, I would say you should have no problem getting it to mount right up. For climbing a standard headlamp would be center mounted, but the durability of the streamlight will out weigh the headlamp. It's been in several hot fires, and been fine.The Petzl Best, would have melted....... but I would bet that's not a concern. Hope this helped! mark **Q: Will this work on an msa v gard helmet?** A: I believe it will. **Q: Is there a streamline fire fighter helmet mount flashlight similar to the Vantage in size but brighter?** A: I'm not sure but I fought tons of fires with this one. Its plenty bright enough. Some people complains it blinds them. Lumens are much more pronouced indoors. Look for a flashlight with super sturdy construction and a good mount before you're concerned with brightness.
