I've never done well with my own attempts at mixed media work. But, with the amazing guidance Mimi gives in this highly-detailed and high-quality book, mixed media work is within my grasp. She also has a few examples, complete with step by step instructions, of art journal pages with focal points, including the one on the cover. What makes this book unusual is that it really does have step by step instructions for all of the pages shown in the book.When you are just starting out, either in mixed media, or in learning a new technique, it helps to have step by step instructions. There is only one bad review of this book at the present time, and the author of that review is correct that if you are copying someone else's work, you aren't being creative. But what you are doing is learning. So if you want to learn, this is a good book for doing that.I, by the way, have owned the book she suggests instead, and it is also a good book in its own way.
