They left a terrible chemical smell in grill and taste to the food when I used them. It took about 5 -6 cooks to get that smell out of the grill. **Q: Can thse be used with chimney starter and if so, how is it done and how many?** A: I use 1 in my chimney of insanity or 2 if I want to light up faster. Stays lit for about 10 minutes. Great product. **Q: if I own a smoke daddy, do I still need to order these to light my kamado joe charcoal?** A: I like these better than charcoal. Doesn’t need any type of fuel to light up like charcoal does. Let me know how that works if you do try it. **Q: How many do you use to start the Classic II?** A: One or two. I break them in half and usually put two to thee halves between the coals.
