They were a little stiff initially and required assistance to open but as I used them that went away. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ acceptable, not quick adjust *by C***G on January 3, 2023* This review is of the outside calipers. I don't have anything Starrett (which doesn't bear comparing anyway) but I do have a decent pair of $30ish dividers. This isn't that but it's not so much worse I would pay triple for my use case (telling me when I've shaved enough off on a lathe). It came with a lot of slop in the nuts that hold the screw in place. That's easily fixable with a 6mm wrench but I shouldn't have to fix a new tool. They're passably sturdy and do align and even before I took out the slop they had precise reproduction once the spring was engaged, which is all I really wanted. I did take off a star because the adjustment nut is two parts like it's a quick slide system, but it isn't.
