I am not sure it would attach to a regular blackboard. Also the hole where the marker goes is not big enough for a regular piece of chalk. **Q: Can it be used on a dry erase board?** A: Yes. This can definately be used on a dry erase board! **Q: I have dry erase paint on my dry wall. Will the suction cup stick on it?** A: As long as a suction cup will stick to it this will do fine. **Q: What suction cups work with these compasses? I got so I could specifically draw out the orbits of the planets in our solar system. I was able to do this quickly and easily and maintain a relative distance between all of the orbits. My only complaint regarding this item would be that the suction cup adheres to the whiteboard too well! When trying to remove it from the whiteboard I almost pulled the board off of the wall.
