The polymerization reaction destroys the toxicity and carcinogenicity of the molecule. As long as all of the monomer is removed, there are no worries. If you are a bit OCD, you can put the "crystals" in a large excess of water, let it sit for a few hours, and pour off the water. **Q: can it be used in outdoor pots that already have plants in them** A: Yes, you can use this in pots with plants in them. Make several holes in the soil (with a stick or pencil) evenly spaced around the plant (avoiding the root area) and incorporate Miracle-Gro Water Storing Crystals evenly into the holes. Cover the holes with soil and water thoroughly to activate the water storing properties. **Q: I want to add this product to all my landscaping during our CA drought.
