A healthy spark will be more intense with a blueish-white spark. I used this tester on my riding mower on June 1, 2015 and replaced the ignition module (same as a vehicle coil). Pull the recoil starter rope & look at the light?** A: Yes, if it starts the light will flash everytime the sparkplug sparks. If it does not start the light will flash everytime the sparkplug gets power and then you know it is not an electrical problem. It can then be either a bad sparkplug or a fuel problem. If it does not flash when you pull the rope then it is an electrical malfunction (ie. magneto, points, or electronic ignition problem).
