I think it still deserves the fifth star despite that, and the price. I will say that others on the kava forums have used multiple "washes" of each ball, which led me to do so as well. The 2nd one certainly seems warranted, and 3rd and even 4th washes with less water seem warranted to me as long as colored water is being produced. I have not after a couple of weeks had any issues with the unit cracking, but I stick with room temperature water. The screwing of the ball worked fine for me for the most part(one time I had difficulty unscrewing it). When it isnt screwing together so easily, i just squeeze it together and it pops in place, often without need for any further screwing. I head read each ball full contained 2-3 tablespoons, but I easily fit 3 heaping tablespoons in. While I can't as of yet compare to the traditional method for efficacy, from what Ive read I can compare to the time and effort, and think this is worth every penny for the convenience. Warm or hot can cause cracks apparently. Works great! **Q: How many ounces of liquid does the cup hold?** A: The cup holds 24 ounces, but, if you put that much liquid in, the kava will be very diluted. Also, the ball won't move around much, which defeats the purpose of this gadget. So I'd use 12 ounces of liquid, at most, or a larger container and 2 balls. **Q: Could you just use any protien shaker with kava?** A: I wouldn't. You don't really want to drink the root, just infuse the water with it. A protein shaker would just mix it all together. I was skeptical, but it really does just take a minute or 2 of shaking to have strong kava. Definitely skip the shaker bottle and just buy a different one.
