The Aerogarden Bounty models have 24”. **Q: Can you grow marijuana with this?** A: As another answered, pot plants will get too tall. There are ways to stop vertical growth, but 12” would not be enough for any type of decent harvest. I would suggest looking into grow tents, with at least 3’ of vertical grow area. They are much more customizable for the purpose of growing your own pot. **Q: Does it attract bugs, like little flies, to the root area? does the water need replacing so it won't grow algae or mold? how often? tia ;)** A: I have not had a bug problem and no, I haven't replaced the water. The water circulates on a regular schedule so I think that keeps it from growing algae. I just wish I would have bought the bigger one. The plants grow so fast I have to trim them almost daily. I have dill, thyme and basil coming out my ears. **Q: How often does water need to be added?** A: Every 2 weeks if you have 6 pods. Instructions are included telling you how to water according to how many you grow. It also says how long to keep the lights on. It is very easy except for the timer. I found it difficult to set it.
