I tried a dimmer that burned out quickly.** A: If you don't know how to determine amp requirements for a device you want to switch off and on, or dim, you might be better off using an electrician.That's why your dimmer burned out. **Q: what is the width of the knob? is there a larger knob that would fit on this switch?** A: It is 1/4 inch in diameter. Mine is installed and if rotated counter-clockwise the knob does not unscrew, don't know if you can when it hasn't been installed. **Q: Switch in picture show it to be 28v dc. is it really 125v?** A: I didn't notice the 28VDC legend on the switch I used, but the switch is 125V AC. I checked the Gardner Bender website and it says the GSW-61 is a 125V AC switch. **Q: is this an On/Off or a Dimmer?** A: On/off switch.
