I love it for use after the other cleansers. I put a bit on my wet figertips and massage onto my face then rinse. I have not used it with cotton balls. I don't think I would use it alone as a cleanser because I prefer a more clean feel first then use it for the added moisture. I didn’t like this product compared to the 1000 roses foam. **Q: Can this be used as a first step cleanser? should i follow this up with my face wash like i would do after an oil cleanser?** A: I use this alone as a one-step face wash in winter when my skin is drier and more sensitive due to harsh cold outdoors and harsh heating indoors. This is a European-style cleansing milk. It is not an oil, nor does it turn watery. It feels like a thick lotion when applied and during use it thins a bit. LIKES: No added perfume or synthetic fragrance. No shea butter, no alcohol. Soft scent, velvet texture, gently cleans dry to very dry skin. Makes my skin feel "bouncy and plump"! I've tried many cleansers for "normal-to-dry" skin which ALL dried out my skin. This is the first cleansing milk I have purchased. I chose it over more expensive ones like Shiseido & Caudalie b/c these two contain either alcohol (drying!) or shea butter (clogs pores). I will continue to use this product for cleaning my skin. It's especially good in the morning, and it removes normal sunscreens at the end of the day. If I use a long-wear foundation or waterproof mascara, I have to double-cleanse b/c this product does not take off long-wearing makeup. It Does take off normal mascara that is not waterproof (The type that comes off with "soap & water".) DISLIKES: none! I infrequently wear long-wear makeup so the cleansing properties of this product are perfect for me. As stated earlier, I double-cleanse when wearing long-wearing makeup.
